It is Mathigon’s mission to provide highest quality, personalised education for children around the world. This is only possible by collecting personal data about student’s ability, knowledge, and learning history. We also understand how important privacy is to our users, and strive to be as transparent as possible. Please review this document carefully.

This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures of Mathigon (“we”, “our” or “us”) on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information on Mathigon.org (the “Website”) and the products, content and applications we offer (the “Services”). By using the Website and Services, you are consenting to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure, and other uses of your information as described here.

This Privacy Policy covers the treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) gathered when you are using or accessing the Website and Services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that we do not own or control, including but not limited to social media platforms used for login or sharing.

Cookies

Mathigon uses cookies to improve the users experience while visiting the website. This includes personalising content and ads, providing social media features and analysing our traffic. We share some of that information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners.

Cookies are small pieces of text that are saved on your computer through your web browser when you access a website. We use cookies to recognise your web browser and tell us how and when you visit Mathigon. This allows as to provide a tailored experience every time you visit the Website.

The information we gather enables us to personalise the content of Mathigon and improve the quality and suitability of educational content for you and for others.

Personally identifiably information is never disclosed to third parties, except when we reasonably believe is necessary to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, (ii) enforce this Privacy Policy, including investigation of potential violations hereof, (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues, (iv) respond to user support requests, or (v) protect our rights, property, or safety, our users and the public. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and spam/malware prevention. In any other cases, you will be notified when your Personal Information may be shared with third parties, and will be able to prevent the sharing of this information.

Aggregated and non-personally identifiable user data may be shared with third parties for marketing, advertising or other similar uses.

Please note that if Mathigon is acquired, sold, or dissolved, its assets, including personally identifiable information, may, in whole or in part, be sold, disposed of, transferred, divested, or otherwise disclosed as part of the transaction or proceeding. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and any acquirer may continue to use your Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

We take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorised disclosures of personally identifiable information, and we strive to store and protect all of our data using industry-standard techniques. However we cannot guarantee or warrant that such techniques will prevent personally identifiable information in our possession to be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. Unauthorised entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of user information at any time.

Contact and Communications

Users contacting Mathigon and/or its owners do so at their own discretion and provide any personal details at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. Every effort has been made to ensure a safe and secure form to email submission process but advise users using such form to email processes that they do so at their own risk.

Mathigon and its owners use any information submitted to provide you with further information about the Website and Services, or to assist you in answering any questions or queries you may have submitted. Storage and disclosure of information submitted follows the policies described in the previous section.

Email Newsletter

Mathigon operates an email newsletter program used to inform subscribers about products and services supplied by this website. Users can subscribe through an online automated process should they wish to do so but do so at their own discretion. Some subscriptions may be manually processed through prior written agreement with the user.

Email newsletters are operated through the third-party provider MailChimp, and please visit their privacy policy for additional details. Emails may contain tracking facilities collecting data for future analysis and evaluation. This data may include, among others, the opening and forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email, times, dates and frequency of activity. The information is used to refine future email campaigns and supply the user with more relevant content based around their activity.

In compliance with UK Spam Laws and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 subscribers are given the opportunity to un-subscribe at any time through an automated system. This process is detailed at the footer of each email campaign.

Although this website only looks to include quality, safe and relevant external links, users are advised adopt a policy of caution before clicking any external web links mentioned throughout this website.

The owners of this website cannot guarantee or verify the contents of any externally linked website despite their best efforts. Users should therefore note they click on external links at their own risk and this website and its owners cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any external links mentioned.
